NEFI EAD Discussion

Key Take-Aways Next Ten Days:

  • Unsettled pattern over the next week
  • Rainfall slightly above normal for much of the region
  • Temperatures average near to slightly cooler than normal for much of the region

Discussion: A rather unsettled pattern is in place for the next seven to ten days as the upper level pattern across North America favors some storm systems moving through and near the region bringing some rain at times. Besides it being rainy at times; temperatures will be averaging near normal to slightly below normal thanks to the configuration of the pattern across North America. We’ll have some mild to warm days and some chilly to cool days mixed. One thing we don’t see is any heatwaves in the next 2 weeks. There are some signs that this pattern will break down by late month as the mid-level steering shuffles up. No major rainfall events are also expected through this period as well. It’s the typical battle from the cold season into the warm season being summer particularly for New England where backdoor cold fronts block summertime temperatures from getting into the region.

Let’s take a look at the temperature anomalies below at points through the week.

Today’s high temperature departures below.

As you can see on the map above, today’s high temperatures are forecasted to be a few degrees warmer than normal across almost the entire region.

Looking into tomorrow’s low temperature anomalies below; we can see a good part of the region will see low temperatures several degrees warmer than normal thanks to cloud cover across a good part of the region.

Jumping ahead to Friday; we can see that the entire region will likely see afternoon high temperatures below normal thanks to our rainstorm that will be likely impacting the region on the map below.

Longer range thoughts:

We are forecasting the month to finish with temperatures at or slightly above normal with rainfall slightly above normal as our pattern remains active and the core of the above normal temperatures remain well to our west over the center part of the country. June is looking warmer and possibly drier than normal as we enter summer.
